On Friday April 24th, we will be answering these questions and sampling wines at the home of Doris & Ed Heiser.

The University of Michigan Club of Milwaukee is proud to organize a very special group tour of the Jan Lievens special exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum for Saturday, April 25th at 1:30PM. This exhibit comes to Milwaukee from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC and in association with the Rembrandt House Museum, Amsterdam.

Daring and innovative as a painter, draftsman, and printmaker, Dutch artist Jan Lievens (1607-1674) created a number of memorable character studies, genre scenes, landscapes, formal portraits, and religious and allegorical images. This exhibition will, for the first time, present an overview of the full range of Lievens’ career, with about 45 of his finest paintings and a select group of his drawings and prints.

Our docent for this tour is Laurie Winters , a Michigan Art History Alumnus and Curator of Earlier European Art. Besides coordinating this exhibit, Laurie was also recently appointed the Milwaukee Art Museum's first Director of Exhibitions as of March 2 , 2009 . Show up for this event so you can both learn from and congratulate Laurie! Also, an optional lunch is scheduled before the exhibit at 11:45AM at the Water Street Brewery, 1101 N. Water Street, Milwaukee, WI, (414) 272-1195. The lunch is pay your own way. The cost of the exhibit is discounted at only $9 per person.
